Weekly Updates

Friday 20th September 2024

The children have continued to wow us with their ability to adapt to school life and fit in as if they've always been here. The children had a supply teacher this week and they helped her by reminding her of the routines and daily timetable.

The children have started phase 2 phonics this week and have learnt the sounds: s,a and t. Can you see if they can spot these sounds on any signs around them? They will soon be bringing home a book with these sounds in to try and read some simple, CVC words. In a few weeks I'll be inviting you to a phonics workshop with me so I can explain and demonstrate how we teach phonics at school and how you can support your child on their reading journey.

In Maths the children have been sorting objects like buttons and colourful bears.

In English the children have enjoyed thinking about the Owl Babies story and thinking about what houses they live in and who is in their family. The children drew some beautiful pictures.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday 13th September 2024

This week the children have been settling into the routines of their new, big school. They have been working on their tidying up skills after choosing time and working as a team to keep their classroom clean and lovely. We have been working on some Phase 1 phonics to set us up for starting phase 2 net week. We have played lots of listening games.

The children helped Mrs Gibson to follow a recipe to make some colourful playdoh. We have also been looking at the Colour Monster book and exploring what makes us feel all of these emotions.

Please sit with your child and look at their reading books with them. They currently only have pictures so you can talk about them and make up your own stories.

Have a wonderful weekend!
