Our School Council 2024/25

School Council Updates:

As we delve into another exciting term here at our school, we would like to share some fantastic updates from our School Council, who have been busy gathering feedback from our students and making positive changes for everyone.

Autumn Term 1 2024

The School Council kicked off the term by listening to what our pupils really think about break times. After gathering some invaluable insights, it turned out that many of our students weren't big fans of the "walk around" at playtime. Not only did they find it a bit tedious, but they also pointed out that it cut their playtime short. Also, the children informed us that there simply wasn't enough equipment for everyone to enjoy. Taking this feedback to heart, we decided to stop the "walk around" altogether! The Council then sprang into action by rummaging through our PE shed to collect some play equipment. Even better, we repurposed an old shed in the playground to store everything safely. Now, when Mrs Bulmer is out supervising, children can enjoy the adventure play equipment, which is a delightful change from only using it at breaktime!

Autumn Term 2 2024

Our adventure didn't stop there! The School Council organised a brilliant cake sale for Children in Need and we whipped up a delicious array of treats. The excitement around the cake sale was palpable, with students bringing in their best bakes and sharing their creations with their friends and family. Later in the term, we also sold raffle tickets for a chance to win some fabulous advent calendars. It was a total hit! Thanks to the hard work of our students and the amazing support from parents and families, we raised over £200! This fantastic amount will play a crucial role in subsidising our school trips this year. With these funds, we aim to provide enriching experiences that foster learning beyond the classroom.

Spring Term 1 2025

As we entered Spring, the pupil voice emerged once again! The School Council reported that the children weren't particularly fond of the "family dining" arrangement at lunchtime. Mrs Lee kindly explained the reasons behind this setup: it encourages older students to be responsible for their younger peers, promotes good manners, and helps ensure we have enough adults around to supervise the playground. After much discussion, a compromise was reached! The children asked to sit next to their friends, with the School Council selecting the table arrangements. Wonderful news - Mrs Lee agreed, and the Council has already gotten to work planning the seating for Spring Term 2!
